Pursuant to section 143 of the Municipal Government Act, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN of the proposed disposition of municipal lands.
The Town of Three Rivers has under consideration a request from the Province of Prince Edward Island to acquire from the Town Lot 20-1, being an approximately 1.18 acre parcel to be subdivided from PID 890988, as depicted on the attached Plan of Survey, for the nominal consideration of $1. The current assessment for the entire PID is $24,000.00.
The Province proposes to develop 10 units of affordable housing on the lot, which will require re-zoning to R-3. If the intended development does not proceed within two years of conveyance, title to the property will revert to the Town.
In transferring the land for less than its fair market value, the Town will require the Province to forfeit any claim or eligibility for the Municipal Affordable Housing Tax Incentive Program for this development.
Council of the Town will make its decision regarding this proposal at its regular meeting on April 12, 2021, 7 p.m. at the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre. Members of the public who wish to attend the meeting are advised to register in advance by calling 902-838-2528 no later than noon, April 8, 2021.
