When the Town of Three Rivers amalgamated, it took ownership over multiple community halls that are available for the public to use. These halls include the Cardigan Village Office, Lower Montague School, Lorne Valley Hall, and the Georgetown Civic Centre.

The Town of Three Rivers developed a fee structure for use of these spaces as follows:

  • Private or Business Use–Non-residents of Three Rivers –$100 per day,
  • Private or Business Use–Residents of Three Rivers –$50 per day,
  • Non-profit/community groups—no charge.

These spaces require significant maintenance to ensure they remain safe for the community to use, in addition to the operating costs such as cleaning, insurance and electricity. At public consultations for the community halls, in fall, 2020, it was suggested that the rates be re-assessed to help offset the expenses.

We are asking all past and present users for input on the fee structure. We want to know how rates should be determined.  Is it important that they be consistent between buildings?  Should fees for each building be based on the costs associated with that building only?  Should different users pay different fees? What would be a reasonable rate?
