Montague
The Montague area that we are familiar with today consisted of Lot 52 and Lot 59, and was incorporated in 1917. In 1804, a map of the village of Montague Bridge (as it was then known) depicted a wharf on the south side, a bridge and road to Charlottetown, and a road to Wightman’s Point in Lower Montague.
Since then, it has flourished into a thriving community full of historical significance and modern amenities. Montague celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2017. A gorgeous part of Montague and a must-see for every visitor, is the waterfront area on the Montague River. With shops, tourist information, a marina and an outdoor concert venue, it is the hub for almost all events, activities and festivals that take place in the area! The waterfront area is a large part of the history of the Town with its wooden boardwalk, original train turnstile remnants, and magnificent views.
Visitors and locals alike take part in exploring the area through its diverse shopping, restaurants, cafes and bakeries, and accomodations. Montague also houses the well-known Art Trail, which is a walk through the street of Montague, highlighting many commissioned pieces of artwork that celebrates the history, culture, and dynamic community of Montague.
